One of the best ways to make a room seem like new is by adding a bit of light. In most cases, this means putting in a lamp.
The problem is that there are so many lamps out there to choose from. How do you know which one is right for you?
The best way to decide is to try to match it to your personality and the room as much as possible. If you’re more of a subtle or traditional type, go with a classic lamp design.
However, If you like things to stand out every now and again, we can show you some unique lamps to consider for your next remodel.
1. Lumio
The Lumio is what happens when you find a way to put a lightbulb inside of a Sensu fan. This brilliant little lamp can be folded up to look like a book for easy storage.
It can then be folded out to a full circle and stuck to any magnetic surface. Cooler still is the fact that the lamp’s brightness is controlled by how far you open it.
The product also comes with a leather piece and wooden bar to hand it from, in case you want a ceiling lamp, and a USB cord to charge it.
This neat little lamp was designed by Max Gunawan. It has since won awards and gained a massive following, including musician DJ Khaled.
2. Industrial Style Night Lamp
Next on our list of unique lamps is the industrial style night lamp. Why somebody decided to make a lamp that looks like a pipe and pressure valve, we may never know, but the final product looks great.
This odd little lamp has a lot going for it, from its cast iron construction to its switch built into the pressure valve. For those who are really into the industrial theme, it even has an old-timey lightbulb providing the glow.
Keep in mind, there are a few different designs of this lamp, but the differences, such as lightbulb shape and switch location, are minimal.
3. Rock/Pebble Lamp
Again, these types of lamps are known by a few different names, but they share a basic design. The lamp looks like a series of round rocks or pebbles that have been stacked on top of each other with the largest on the bottom and smallest at the top.
However, that’s where the experimentation ends. The top of the lamp is a simple bulb and shade. The switch is also standard.
If you want something creative without being too outlandish, or you’re going for a garden-like atmosphere, this might be the lamp for you.
4. Cactus Lamp
No, this lamp is not a giant translucent cactus with a light inside it, though we’re sure somebody somewhere has tried that. We are talking about a lamp shaped like a cactus.
When doing this, some opt to make a cactus-shaped neon light, while others put a lightbulb in the center of a cactus shaped metal design.
You can see such a cactus lamp amongst these unique lamps.
Whether you yearn for life in a desert town or you really like cacti, this lamp is for you.
5. Bowler Hat Table Lamp
The biggest question that comes to mind when looking at this lamp is not why, but how. How did somebody make a lamp that uses a bowler hat as a shade?
It turns out that this isn’t hard, because people have made hat lamps of all kinds, not just bowlers. The only limit is the lamp and lightbulb shape and the size of the hat.
The bowler is fitted well to this task. Not only does it shade the bulb, but tilting the hat tilts the light as well.
6. Bleeding Liquid Lamp
Among the more unsettling lamps out there, this table lamp takes the form a tilted lampshade with a stand that looks like a dripping red liquid. If you have a taste for the morbid, or you have a teenage son with a birthday coming up, this may be something to look into.
However, if a bloody lamp isn’t your thing, you can also get it in white. It’s the same unique design, but a lot more family-friendly.
Who says the red liquid has to be blood? This lamp could be used in an art classroom or a painter’s studio.
There’s also a similar lamp on the market. This one is designed to look more like a paint can tipping over. Plus, it comes in multiple colors.
7. Giraffa LED Lamp
Many of us have seen the shorts at the start of Pixar movies and thought, ‘I want that lamp.’ Unfortunately, legal reasons prevent it from being available for purchase.
This futuristic look-alike comes in black, white, and copper. The head can rotate in a complete circle to provide better light wherever you need it. May we suggest putting it on an end table between two chairs or couches?
Also, due to its small size, it can be placed almost anywhere. This makes it one of the best reading lamps on the market.
The Most Unique Lamps on the Market
There is no shortage of unique lamps for those looking to spice up their homes. We’ve mentioned a few of them above, but there are many others out there. Some are breathtaking and creative, others are funny, and still, others are hilariously awkward.
